Laundry Room Organization Reveal + Tips

Being a stay at home mom of two little ones can make it pretty tough to stay organized. When we moved into our home a year ago, I tried to make everything as organized as possible when unpacking, but it is SO hard to keep it that way, especially without the right storage solutions. As much as I love things being in their own place, I really had no idea about all the items you can purchase to make your home look, not only neat, but pretty too! Plus, with my boys on the loose, I can't organize unless they're asleep or I'm home solo (which is rare), or everything gets pulled out all over the place, and it takes double the time! So I cannot tell you how excited I was when I connected with Alesia from A Well-Organized Home. She did an amazing job getting just what we needed to organize our laundry room, without any of the stress for me!

It has been on our (way out in the future) list to get cabinetry put in the laundry room, but after she was finished, I honestly didn't feel as much of a need to take on that expense. I was so impressed with how it turned out! Not only did she make our laundry room so much easier to navigate, she was super efficient in the process too!

Below I'm sharing the after (and before pictures - as embarrassing as they may be - ha!), some great organization tips + benefits of hiring a professional organizer that Alesia has shared with me, as well as all of the products she used to make our laundry room look a million times better!

LAUNDRY ROOM ORGANIZING TIPS FROM ALESIA

Use Open Plastic Storage Bins
My all-time favorite laundry storage bins are the White Plastic Storage Bins with Handles from The Container Store. They come in 4 different sizes, are lightweight and have a lower front to make it easier to access the items you store in them, and the best part is that they’re inexpensive. You could organize your laundry room using only these items and spend less than $50. The reason why I love to use this type of bin in the laundry room is that they keep items contained and organized, and they’re great for use on the wire shelves that many of us have in our laundry rooms.

Hang Brooms, Mops, Etc.
Brooms, mops, folding stools, etc. can take up valuable floor space in your laundry room.  Use a hanging rack to hang these items and get them off of the floor. The hanging rack also keeps them from falling behind the washing machine or dryer and getting stuck.

It’s ok to store non-laundry items in the laundry room, just make sure they have a designated home.
I’ve seen all kinds of things stored in laundry rooms – cleaning supplies, light bulbs, batteries, rags, vacuum attachments, etc. Laundry rooms tend to be catch-all places for those odds and ends that we can’t find a home for elsewhere. That’s ok – just make sure you give them a dedicated home. Have a dedicated drawer or bin for each of the random items you store in your laundry room, and make sure it’s labeled so you can find those things when you need them.

ALESIA'S TOP BENEFITS OF USING AN ORGANIZER

They know how to best utilize your space.
Not sure if you should use shoe boxes or shoe racks, plastic baskets or wire baskets, a drawer system or shelving? Home organizers can usually look at the area you want organized and determine the best use of the space you have. They’ve had practice working in different spaces, and they can come up with what solutions will best serve you and your space.

They know the products.
Home organizers know their products. Where you may go into Target or The Container Store and stare at the shelves feeling lost or overwhelmed, home organizers know what products from what stores work best in what spaces. Let them figure out what products will be best in your space.

They often have trade program discounts so they can get you the same products for cheaper.
Many stores offer trade program discounts to home organizers. These discounts can range from 10% to 20% off the regular price and can be passed on to you.

Your time is valuable.
Most of the time a home organizer gets called in for one of two reasons: either a person doesn’t have time to organize or that person is too overwhelmed by the thought of organizing that he or she would rather someone else do it. A project that may take you all weekend to do, can probably be done by a home organizer in at least half the time. So spend your time on something you actually enjoy. Because believe it or not, home organizers really do enjoy organizing for you!

BEFORE

A huge thank you to Alesia for her help in organizing our laundry room, especially since I end up doing laundry of some sort every other day (at least)! If you're anything like me, clutter, messiness and disorganization really stress me out, so this has definitely helped take some of that weight off. I hope y'all enjoyed this post and have a great week friends!

xoxo, Ash
